미국 CCM의 선구자이며 산 역사이기도 한 Larry Norman. 그의 1981년 음반 [Something New Under The Son]에서 개인적으로 제일 은혜가 되기도 했던 곡인 "Put Your Life into His Hands"을 감상해 보겠습니다. 그리고 다음 곡인 "LN's 97th Nightmare"의 앞부분을 이어서 들어 보길 바랍니다.

 

처음 들었을 때 얼마나 박장대소를 했던지.. ㅎㅎ 저도 예전에 찬양 사역할 때 이런 경우들이 있어봐서 더욱 가깝게 다가왔던 Larry Norman의 메시지였습니다. 요즘 같이 돼지털 시대에 아날로그 감성이 팍팍 묻어나는 테이프 음원을 컨버팅해서 올려 봅니다. 추억이 새롭네요^^

i was standing on the corner

when i heard my bulldog bark

i looked up into the sky

i saw lights moving

through the dark

 

they were coming down from Heaven

each one was brighter than a star

and i said to my bulldog

i wonder what they are

 

i couldn't run i could not swallow

i could only shake with fear

they were coming toward me

and they were getting near

 

i heard people screaming around me

in the darkness of that night

then i fell in silence

i was blinded by the light

 

i felt my body drop off me

like an old black overcoat

i heard my bulldog howl

and i began to float

 

aow and as

that light came down around me

well i could not see a thing

but i could feel a Presence

and i heard Voices begin to sing

how can i tell you what happened

i don't know what happened

i was just standing there with my bulldog

and i saw this light in the sky

the next thing i remember

well someone grabbed my hand

i felt my spirit flying

far above the land

대학 축제 때마다 캠퍼스를 돌며 노방 전도를 하고 콘서트를 열며 음악과 문화 그리고 사역과 복음에 대해서 피가 끓었던 20대를 떠올려 봅니다. 또 지금같이 인터넷이 보편화되고 디지털 세상이 정착되기 전에 국내에 해외 음반들이 아직 유입되지 않을 때 여러 동역자들과 해외에 이런 저런 방법으로 직구하면서 가슴 벅차했던 그 때 그 시절을 그려 봅니다.

 

그리고 인터넷이 한창 열리면서 한 때 유행했던 윈앰프 개인방송 시절 때 해외CCM과 Modern Worship 등 일반 음악(특히 Rock과 Jazz)까지 두루 다루면서 나름의 매니아 팬층도 많이 모셔봤던 때를 회상해 봅니다. 전국 여러 교회와 동아리 단체, 또 각종 수련회 등에서 초청을 받아 해외CCM 뮤직비디오 시사회를 가지면서 CCM의 역사를 강의하기도 하고 그런 중에 Jam 콘서트도 살짝 가지는 재미, 그러면서 자연스럽게 Worship으로 이어지면서 맘껏 은혜를 함께 받았던 지난 날을 추억해 봅니다.

 

지금 이렇게 잠시나마 추천곡 페이지를 만들어 보면서 문득 그 시절 그 때가 가슴에서 메아리 칩니다. 그리고 이제는 지금 여기 또 다른 사명의 자리에 서 있는 제 자신을 바라봅니다. 여러 생각이 교차하는 밤입니다.  - 2014년 9월에
